What type of video camera and editing software should I use?
November 28th, 2009 | by admin |My friend is a photographer and wants to expand her services by providing a videographer as well. This is something I have always been interested in, so I would really like to begin this. My main question is, as a person just starting out, what kind of video camera should I get to do wedding videos and some live music videos and what type of software should I use to edit? I am on a fairly low budget.

This is probably not the best answer since I’m new to video Camcorders myself.
I just purchased and ordered a SONY SR11 60GB HandyCamcorder. I’m doing some research as far as video editing software. The ones that I have read on someone elses Youtube channel are Edits with Sony Vegas Platinum 8, Corel Ulead, Pinnacle Studio 12 & Nero Vision Express 8.
The HDR-SR11 60GB High Definition Handycam® Camcorder from what I have been reading is awesome to the low-entry professional video enthusiast and affordable.

Search on Youtube: Sony SR11 and be sure to check out the videos that have HQ available. I hope I helped just a bit.

If you’re just starting out, spending a lot of money on suitable kit and then learning how to use it properly is the wrong way to go (imho). I think you’d be better off buying the best MiniDV camcorder you can afford, along with an editor like Sony Vegas, and learning how to use it. That done you’ll know what you’re looking for in a professional camcorder costing $ / £ thousands.

For any type of camera, sony is by far the best. they are a great electrical company. for pictures from your wedding, adobe photoshop is the way to go. for videos, its hard to choose because there arent many, but if you have a mac, imovie may be nice.
