    Use basic geometry …
    Use basic geometry for your calculations, such that the center of mass is at least 5cm below the horizontal bar. Perhaps 2.5-3kg is the range you will end up with. Lower center of mass (heavier counterweight) gives a different experience, but it works too. Also consider that is might not be easy holding a 5kg or heavier object at a distance from your body.
