What are the average size of photos taken using an slr camera?

February 18th, 2010 | by admin |

Size in kilobytes or megabytes.

I have a digital camera with 5 mega-pixels and the average photos taken are about 1000 kilobytes.

What about a canon slr with 10 mega-pixels?

ok so i found on the canon website that the EOS Digital Rebel XTi EF-S 18-55 Kit has a 10.1 megapixel camera. the table below shows what each format size is
(1) Large/Fine: Approx. 3.8MB (3,888 x 2,592)
(2) Large/Normal: Approx. 2.0MB (3,888 x 2,592)
(3) Medium/Fine: Approx. 2.3MB (2,816 x 1,880)
(4) Medium/Normal: Approx. 1.2MB (2,816 x 1,880)
(5) Small/Fine: Approx. 1.3MB (1,936 x 1,288)
(6) Small/Normal: Approx. 0.7MB (1,936 x 1,288)
(7) RAW: Approx. 9.8MB (3,888 x 2,592)
RAW is a format that is NOT compressed. so its much larger and you can do much more with it

    i have a nikon d300 with 13MP.
it usually takes about 7mb (give or take 1mb) per picture.
this is uncompressed jpeg form. raw and tiff are much higher.

    hope this helps
