The difference …
The difference between them will only be minimal in terms of image size. Both can print at A3 without problems. You’ll only notice a real difference if it’s 24mp compared to 12, which is *only* double the resolution.

Just know you want …
Just know you want to start off w/ a large memory (mine’s 16 gig) CLASS 6 HDSD card of the vid might not work out properly. Most sites don’t tell you that & are pushing smaller Class 4 cards.
It’s very easy to work w/ if you have any cam knowledge at all but it also comes w/ a ton of information & you can DL more off the Canon site. I would choose this over the Nikon in a heartbeat. I didn’t buy mine at B&H, but I’ve shopped w/ them before & they are respectable & knowledgeable. Call them.

I’ve owned this cam …
I’ve owned this cam a couple of weeks now & I have to say it is the cat’s meow.
As a cam in Canon’s consumer line (as opposed to their Pro-line) it is filled w/ bells & whistles & it has a lot of the same features as many of their pro cams. It’s fairly easy to understand from the get-go if you have any cam knowledge & the vid looks terrific. I was looking at the 50D & the vid on this sold me since so many of the features are the same. Who cares which “line” it’s classified as?
