    still my favorite …
still my favorite is the d700 its not too expensive like the D3s and its great. i had a nikon d90 and really i think all of this filming etc is unnecessary, i never used it.

    I never regret …
I never regret buying a d5000 over canon 500d, makes me wonder now why canon release a newer version, the 550D.

    I would go for …
I would go for Nikon at the moment. Don’t get a rebel. Your are really limiting yourself with a rebel. Nikon is leading the field in high ISO, color rendition, and focus. My opinion (and that’s all it is) is who cares about video on an SLR camera? My D90 has it, and I NEVER use the video feature. And all the newer Nikons are using CMOS now anyway.

    To get auto-focus …
To get auto-focus on the D5000 you have to use AF-S DX lenses only. You can still use AF and AI lenses but you will have to manually focus. D5000 and below Nikon DSLR’s do not have a focus motor (turns a screw) built in.

    Well, I just got a …
Well, I just got a Nikon D5000 and it’s a great camera. Especially coz I can also make profesional looking YouTube videos with it because of the good lenses and HD format (not true HD but 1280 by 720 pix) and it does timelapse photography which I love. Those were the main reasons for me to go for the Nikon besides the good picture quality. It is less easy to use than a Canon but hey… it’s a Nikon!! Makers of the D3s, best pro camera in the world.

I chose the D5000, originally bc I wanted live view, over the D3000. Now I’m glad I did, thanks to the many extra features the D5000 offers.

It is, but only because the settings are hidden in the menu instead of having dedicatated buttons on the body, still a good performer though

    The d5000 and 3000 …
The d5000 and 3000 are both amateur, entry level DSLR cameras but they are still pretty good. Compared to the d80; the d80 is a semi-pro camera and so has more features and manual functions. Don’t buy a camera by how many megapixels it has, it really makes no difference to picture quality.
